Different Strokes Dragon Boat Club is a Sydney-based dragon boat club that caters primarily to the LGBTQI+ community. We welcome individuals as well as their friends, family, and supporters. Our club has experienced significant growth since its formation in 2008 and has become one of the largest dragon boat clubs in New South Wales.
We have members ranging in age from 18 to 73 and nearly equal representation of genders. While we prioritise creating a friendly and inclusive social environment, we also strive for competitive excellence. Our race crews have achieved notable success in regattas, state championships, and even at the international level.
We believe in promoting equality and a healthy competitive spirit while maintaining a strong sense of camaraderie within the club. Participation in events like the Mardi Gras parade allows us to showcase our love for the sport and advocate for change and recognition. As a club, we are grateful for the support and acceptance we have received from other dragon boat clubs, and we cherish the friendships and experiences we have gained along the way.
We take pride in our achievements, value the diversity of our members, and are committed to continuing our journey together.
